My photography journey started out of my love for art and creating. Because I enjoy cooking for the family, food photography became an easy choice to express my creativity. Desserts became initially my favorites, followed over time by still life photography as well. Expressing my feelings in scenes of colors, shapes and the beauty of ingredients drives my love of food photography.

My cooking was always just for the family, but all the praises for the presentations of my desserts gave me the idea to record my work. Initially, I didn’t think much of it, just took pics for myself and to show to the family.

Looking at some social media pages learned that food photography, or foodography, as we like to call it, was and still is very popular in Bangladesh.I joined a few food photography groups, my husband surprised me with a phone with a super trooper lens and I was hooked.
With the help of some friends and members of the groups I joined, and I learned how to master the phone. A phone has many more options to work with than clicks on auto mode, I found out. In 2018 my photography journey started.

Determined to get the best out of the phone I took shots every day, and consulted friends about the details of the pictures. Slowly, but surely, my shots became better and better.
After a year or so my husband surprised me again with an even more top of the range phone.
People started to comment on my social media posts that I should get myself a DLSR camera, but I refused because I feel comfortable with my phone. I believe that photography depends on passion, not on device.

These comments made me, nevertheless, decide to send my works to exhibitions, competitions and other events that are frequently organized in Bangladesh. All of a sudden I saw my work being exhibited in prints and I won prizes. Plus I won awards and prizes at various events on line.

My dedication paid off. That was undoubtedly the most amazing feeling of my photography journey. I have won many prizes and awards over the years. Many from local exhibitions and contests. My biggest pride is an UNESCO award. In Agora my photo was nominated in top 50 of #BestOfTheWeek9, it was also a great achievement for me.
Presently I continue to create images that speak to me, in addition I do commercial work for clients promoting their products visually, online or by advertising.
My very supportive husband bought me a trophy cabinet, which is now, filled to the brim, a showpiece in our house.

Covid brought exhibitions to a standstill, and changed all our lives, exhibitions came also to a standstill, but online events, local and international still continue, in which I still like to participate.
Covid brought us also new opportunities, many who lost their jobs started online food delivery businesses. Small businesses started to approach me because they needed photos to support their products. I do now a fair bit of commercial work for those businesses. The feeling when these business owners like my photos and tell me that their sales increased is truly rewarding. It’s a good feeling to give back to society with my photography.

As a woman my advice to the community and the world is – be a good wife to your husband, a good mother to your children and if you have something to share, give back to others who are in need.
